Julie Cohn Design uses old-world casting techniques to create modern artifacts. Made in America, each piece has been carved in wax by the designer, and finished by hand in Dallas. The collection is primitive, yet modern in style, juxtaposing refined elements with rough organic shapes. The collection is cast in Ancient Bronze and sterling silver, and combined with semi-precious stones. Designs cast in Ancient Bronze are sealed to maintain their luster. All earring posts, backs, and wires are gold-filled.

Julie Cohn has lived and worked as an artist and designer in Dallas,Texas for 30 years, creating a modern home and haven with her husband, landscape architect David Rolston and daughter Mila. She lives with favorite objects designed during her varied career, and is surrounded by gardens full of the organic forms revealed again and again in her work.

Educated as a painter and printmaker, Julie has followed a design path from paper to dinnerware, to textiles, rugs, and wallcovering, to collaborations with architects and public art, influenced at each turn by the previous work experience. All her creative endeavors have come together to form her unique vision and aesthetic, characterized by tension between rough and refined, primitive and modern, ultimately paring things down to their essence.

Influenced by 20th century sculptors Noguchi, Calder, and Brancusi who drew their inspiration from primitive ethnic form and crafts, Julie’s work in jewelry has similar roots. Her pieces are about possibilities for layering and stacking to create one-of-a-kind collages or small sculptures that uniquely juxtapose disparate elements with simple elegance.
